First Step

First Steps to start therapy.

Getting Started

Very often taking the first step to seek out therapy can be both the hardest and the scariest part, but it is my desire to make the process as comfortable for you as possible.   I encourage you to utilize the complimentary introduction phone session.  Sometimes just hearing a caring voice on the other end of the phone can drastically calm the nerves.  This is a great opportunity to find out if we will be a good fit and to ask any questions you might have.  If you’re feeling positive about it, the next step is to book a face to face session.

Once our appointment is booked, I will email you a link to a confidential and secure client portal that will allow us to handle the necessary paperwork.  I will email the forms to you and you simply complete and send them back, where they will be stored in your electronic file.  Getting this done prior to the session allows us to utilize all of our time getting to the good stuff - the therapy!

I am located right in the Riviera Village and am easy to find, but I suggest allowing a little extra time so you arrive as relaxed as possible.  There is free parking in the small Trader Joe’s lot and another larger metered parking lot in front of my building that takes coins and credit cards.  I would suggest putting enough money in to go slightly beyond an hour.

Once you arrive to my office you will see a panel with three names on it, including mine.  Please turn the switch on next to my name and a light will go on in my office letting me know you have arrived.  Please leave the light on and I will come to the outer reception area and bring you to the inner office.

The first session is the beginning of what will hopefully be an exciting, rewarding, and sometimes challenging journey. In a safe and supportive environment, and at a pace that feels comfortable to you, we will begin to get an overall sense of who you are, what brings you to therapy, and what you hope to achieve through our work together.

I offer a complimentary introductory phone consult to determine if we will be a “good fit” based on your needs and my areas of strength and expertise.
